Ukraine created a military commandant's office in Russia’s Kursk Oblast, headed by Major General Eduard Moskalyov. SBU captured 102 Russian soldiers. The operation to blow up the Nord Stream gas pipelines in 2022 was planned by several Ukrainian military officers and businessmen. The idea arose during a conversation in a bar, when the parties celebrated the success in repelling the Russian invasion. They did it on an ordinary pleasure yacht and using open maps of the seabed, writes the Wall Street Journal with reference to sources.

According to the outlet, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first allegedly approved the operation, but then ordered its cancellation.

Ukraine appointed the head of the military commandant's office in Kursk Oblast

A military commandant's office was created in Kursk Oblast, and Major General Eduard Moskalyov became its head. As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi explained, this is necessary to maintain law and order and ensure the priority needs of the population in the controlled territories.

The Ministry of Reintegration, together with the military, is developing a possible route of a humanitarian corridor for civilians from Kursk Oblast of Russia to Sumy.

Ukrposhta said that it may open a post office branch in the town of Sudzha, which is currently under the control of the Defense Forces, but only if it receives instructions from the government.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops continue to advance in Kursk Oblast of the Russian Federation — in total, already 35 km from the start of the operation.

SBU special forces captured 102 Russian soldiers in Kursk Oblast. This is the most massive capture of the enemy that was carried out at one time.

For this purpose, the Ukrainian forces captured and cleared an extensive, concreted and well-fortified company stronghold of the Russians from all sides.

Zelenskyy introduced a bill on the ratification of the Rome Statute

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and its amendments.

Ratification will enable Ukraine to acquire full membership in the ICC.

The President of Poland honored the memory of the soldiers of the Ukrainian People's Republic

On August 14, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda laid a wreath at the monument to the soldiers of the Ukrainian People's Republic in Warsaw.

This happened on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw, also known as the "Miracle on the Vistula".
