Kyiv attacked by ballistic missiles. Debris falls in several areas, casualties reported
This morning, Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles. A series of explosions were heard in the city, reported the city military administration (KCMA) and city mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
At around 6:40 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported a missile threat across the entire territory of Ukraine due to the takeoff of Russian MiG-31Ks. Later, they warned of five high-speed targets heading towards the capital.
According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, the Russians are launching ballistic missile strikes from Bryansk.
This caused cars to catch fire in the Holosiyivskyi district. According to Klitschko, an ambulance was called to the scene of the impact, and later it became known about one wounded, then another. Both of them were hospitalized.
According to preliminary data, one person died in the Holosiyivskyi district from a Russian attack.
Local Telegram channels are publishing videos of the consequences of the Russian attack on the capital.
The KCMA also reported falling debris at another address in the Holosiyivskyi district, where a heating main was damaged, and in the Dniprovskyi district, where it fell on an unfinished building. In addition, fires broke out in the Solomyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
The KCMA clarified that Russia launched Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and Iskander/KN-23 ballistic missiles at Kyiv — a total of eight missiles. As a result of this strike, debris was recorded falling in three districts of the city.
In the Holosiyivskyi district, an office building, road surface, and a gas pipe that was depressurized were damaged. Five cars also caught fire. At another address in the same district, the facade of an office building was damaged, where a fire broke out on the roof and the 15th floor collapsed - people may be trapped there.
In the Solomyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, fires broke out in a non-residential building due to falling debris. In Solomyanskyi district, the fire was extinguished. Meanwhile, information about falling debris in the Dniprovskyi district has not been confirmed after an inspection.
