Crimea faces drone onslaught, airfields likely hit

Crimea faced a massive drone attack overnight into Friday, with explosions reported in multiple cities, likely targeting military airfields, as Sevastopol’s Russian-installed governor Mikhail Razvozhaev reported downing 10 drones.

The official said air defenses were active in Sevastopol Bay, Kacha, and Balaklava, claiming 10 drones were shot down by 3 AM.

Local residents reported explosions near Yevpatoria, Sevastopol, Saky, and Hvardiyske, with military airfields in Novofedorivka (Saky), Hvardiyske, and Belbek as probable targets, according to the Telegram channel Crimean Wind.

Videos shared by Crimean Wind captured sounds of ammunition detonation, indicating possible strikes on military targets.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it downed 121 Ukrainian drones, including 89 over Crimea, though Kyiv has not officially commented on the attack.
