Ukrainian forces stabilize Pokrovsk front, seize initiative in some areas

Ukrainian forces stabilized the Pokrovsk front in Donetsk Oblast, regaining tactical initiative in some areas and halting Russian advances, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on Telegram.
Syrskyi praised the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala” for its effective use of active defense tactics to destroy Russian forces.
“Thanks to Skala’s efforts, Ukraine has repeatedly restored control over territories seized by the enemy, as seen in the 2022 Kharkiv offensive in Izyum and this spring in the area of Shevchenko village near Pokrovsk,” General Syrskyi said.
During a working visit, he awarded Skala regiment soldiers with honorary distinctions for their valor.
Battle of Pokrovsk
Pokrovsk, a major city in western Donetsk Oblast near Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, has been a primary Russian target since the fall of Avdiivka in February 2024, with Moscow’s offensive intensifying across southern and western Donetsk Oblast.
Early 2025 saw Ukrainian forces halt Russian progress, with successful counterattacks liberating key villages like Kotlyne, Udachne, and Pishchane, reclaiming about 16 square kilometers.
Russian troops are now attempting to regain lost positions and continue assaults on Ukrainian defenses.
