Two women dead, dozens injured, homes, clinics damaged as Russia targets Kyiv overnight

Kyiv came under a massive Russian air attack overnight into Thursday, leaving civilians dead and wounded and causing widespread damage in both the capital and surrounding region, according to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko.
The attack involved Iranian-made Shahed drones and missiles launched during the night and early morning, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the city’s military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed that the attack caused multiple casualties.
As of 7:51 a.m., two people had been killed and 16 injured. Ten of the wounded were hospitalized, while others received treatment on-site or on an outpatient basis.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported at 8:21 a.m. that residential, medical, educational, commercial, and transportation infrastructure had been damaged in eight districts of the capital.
The two people killed were women from the Podilskyi district: a 68-year-old Kyiv resident and a 22-year-old corporal with the metro police.
The strikes sparked fires across Kyiv, including in residential buildings, vehicles, warehouses, offices, and other non-residential structures.
Rescue crews responded to a fire on the top floor of an apartment building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, caused by falling debris. In the Darnytskyi district, garage complexes and a gas station caught fire after being hit by drone fragments.
At 7:46 a.m., Klitschko said that a local health clinic—Kyiv’s Primary Medical Care Center No. 1—in Podilskyi district was nearly completely destroyed in the strike.
About 400 rescuers and 90 units of fire and rescue, engineering and robotic equipment of the State Emergency Service were involved in the debris removal. Teams of mountaineers and pyrotechnics are working.
Kyiv Oblast was also affected. Regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk reported that a 51-year-old man was injured and hospitalized.
Four districts in the region—Brovary, Boryspil, Obukhiv, and Vyshhorod—suffered damage to private homes, outbuildings, vehicles, and garages.
