Russian military attacks Ukraine with 415 air targets, 178 downed

Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine overnight into Thursday, using 397 drones and 18 missiles of various types, with the majority of drones neutralized, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.

In total, Russia deployed 415 air targets:

  • 397 attack drones, including Shahed UAVs and decoy drones, launched from Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, Orel, and Millerovo in Russia (approximately 200 were Shahed drones);
  • Eight Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Russia’s Bryansk Oblast;
  • Six Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace over Russia’s Saratov Oblast;
  • Four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

The primary target was the city of Kyiv.

The air assault was countered by Ukraine’s Air Force aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.

Preliminary data as of 10:00 a.m. indicates that air defenses shot down 178 air targets:

  • 164 Shahed drones;
  • Eight Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
  • Six Kh-101 cruise missiles.

Additionally, 204 drones and missiles were either lost to radar or suppressed by electronic warfare measures.

Russian drone strikes hit eight locations, while debris from downed drones fell in 23 others.

Kyiv faced a massive Russian attack overnight into Thursday, with residential, medical, educational, commercial, and transport infrastructure damaged in eight districts.

In Podilskyi district, two women—a 68-year-old Kyiv resident and a 22-year-old police corporal from the metro police—were killed. 16 others were injured.

Four districts in Kyiv Oblast were also affected, with a 51-year-old man hospitalized due to injuries.
