Drones strike key Russian military plant in Lipetsk Oblast once again
Drones struck Lipetsk Oblast, with explosions reported near the Energia plant in the town of Yelets in the early hours of Tuesday.
Local governor Igor Artamonov confirmed the threat of a drone attack on Yelets but did not mention explosions or damage to the plant. However, social media reports indicated that the Energia plant was hit.
The facility, previously targeted by drones on May 23 and July 3, 2025, is noted as one of Russia’s largest producers of chemical power sources. It is the sole manufacturer of batteries for munition guidance kits used in aerial bombs.
The plant also produces batteries for Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems, sea-based cruise missiles, and various universal accumulators used in power systems for specialized military equipment.
Explosions were also reported in Voronezh, but no details on the outcomes of that attack are available.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, air defenses allegedly downed 55 Ukrainian drones overnight. Ukraine has not commented on this claim.
