Chernivtsi death toll climbs to 3 after Russian attack on July 12

The death toll from a Russian attack on Chernivtsi in the early hours of July 12 has risen to three, according to Ruslan Zaparaniuk, head of the Chernivtsi Oblast Military Administration.
Zaparaniuk reported that the latest fatality was a 74-year-old man from Sniatyn, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Doctors fought for his life for nearly five days, but he died due to multiple shrapnel wounds.
Attack on Chernivtsi
Overnight into July 12, Russian forces launched a missile and drone strike on Chernivtsi, killing a 26-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man. 26 people were injured, with seven still hospitalized.
The attack damaged several residential buildings, shops, administrative structures, and vehicles in Chernivtsi. In the Storozhynets territorial community, a drone strike damaged a residential house and a vehicle, but no casualties were reported there.
Russian forces also attacked other Ukrainian regions that night, including Kharkiv, Lviv, Lutsk, and Chernivtsi.
In Lutsk, a private home was destroyed. In Lviv’s Zaliznychnyi district, a non-residential building’s roof caught fire, and several homes, including residential ones, a kindergarten, numerous windows, and dozens of vehicles were damaged. Nine people were injured in Lviv, with no fatalities reported.
