Russian regions faced a massive drone attack overnight on Thursday, with the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery among the affected sites, according to local authorities and Telegram channels.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported intercepting 49 drones, with 27 downed over Rostov Oblast, and others over Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Oryol, Kursk, Tula, the Black Sea, and occupied Crimea.

In Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov Oblast, a fire broke out at an industrial facility, said regional head Yuri Slusar.

The Telegram channel Astra specified it was the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery, with locals reporting about five explosions over the city.

Voronezh Oblast Governor Alexander Gusev reported damage to an energy facility, with no casualties.

Several villages lost power, and 19 trains were delayed due to an incident on the Rossosh-Sokhranovka railway section following a drone attack.

In occupied Sevastopol, residents reported explosions and a fire. The occupation “governor” Mikhail Razvozhaev claimed it was a military unit drill involving the Black Sea Fleet and emergency services.

However, Astra noted that local social media comments accused authorities of “treating them like fools.”

Local outlet Crimean Wind, citing subscribers, reported a strike on a military unit near the “South” airfield on the Chersonesos Peninsula, with NASA FIRMS satellites detecting significant fires.
