Russia strikes Ukraine with 24 missiles and 502 drones, air defenses down 451 targets
In the early hours of Wednesday, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using air- and sea-launched cruise missiles and strike drones, totaling 526 targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The assault involved Kh-101 and Kalibr cruise missiles, Shahed attack drones, and various decoy drones. The attack was countered by air forces, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
As a result of air defense operations, 451 of the 526 enemy targets were neutralized:
- 14 of 16 Kalibr missiles;
- 7 of 8 Kh-101 missiles;
- 430 of 502 drones of various types.
Military reports confirmed that three missiles and 69 attack drones struck 14 locations, with debris from downed targets falling at 14 additional sites.
Attack aftermath
Multiple Ukrainian regions were targeted overnight. In Kyiv Oblast, debris from a downed target sparked a fire between residential high-rises.
In Kirovohrad Oblast, railway infrastructure was damaged, injuring five people, with over 20 trains delayed.
In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast’s Kalush district, fires broke out at three warehouse locations. Attacks also hit Lutsk, Rivne, Lviv Oblast, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Odesa.
