Russian troops suffer 29,000 casualties in September – General Staff

Russian forces lost 29,000 soldiers in September, along with 70 tanks, 65 armored combat vehicles, over 1,050 artillery systems, six multiple rocket launchers, and other equipment, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.

Since the start of 2025, Ukrainian forces have captured 2,060 Russian soldiers.

The General Staff said Ukraine’s Defense Forces halted Russia’s spring-summer offensive campaign and continue to disrupt Moscow’s plans through asymmetric measures to counter the enemy’s advantage in personnel and weaponry.

“We are implementing effective active defense measures, including counteroffensive operations in certain areas,” the General Staff stated. “Ukrainian troops are pushing Russian invaders out of Sumy Oblast, continuing active operations in Donetsk Oblast’s Pokrovsk district, and achieving success in regaining control over parts of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.”

The General Staff also reported that Ukrainian long-range strikes hit 45 Russian fuel-energy and military-industrial facilities since January 2025, reducing Russia’s fuel and lubricant production by nearly 25%.

Additionally, the General Staff noted positive developments regarding the supply of Tomahawk missiles, stating their use “will significantly strengthen efforts to compel the Russian aggressor to end the war.”
