Russian attack on Kyiv kills couple, injures 21, including 5 children

A Russian missile strike on Kyiv killed a husband and wife and injured 21 people, including five children, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported.
Five adults and three children were hospitalized, Klitschko said.
Fires erupted in the Pecherskyi, Desnianskyi and Holosiyivkyi districts from the Russian attack, while Russia hit residential high-rises in the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, igniting more blazes there.
Two people died in the strike on the capital.
Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office later said that the killed were a couple living in a high-rise in the Dniprovskyi district.
The number of injured rose to 21, including five children, such as a 2023-born infant in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district.

Russian forces launched a massive assault on Ukraine overnight into Wednesday with ballistic and cruise missiles plus strike drones.
Targets included Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. The strikes killed at least six people, including two children in the Brovary district.
Damage hit civilian sites along with energy, gas and port facilities. Emergency power outages were imposed in most regions.
The attack also damaged rail infrastructure, causing some trains to run late or on altered routes.
