Russian troops kill 5 civilians in Donetsk Village massacre
Russian troops executed five civilians in Zvanivka village, Bakhmut district, Donetsk Oblast, on Monday, Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office reported.
According to investigators, a couple and their two sons were sheltering from shelling in a private home basement when Russian soldiers burst in, demanding information about Ukrainian defenders. Receiving no answers, one soldier returned and shot the unarmed family.
The father and older son died at the scene, while the mother and younger son, along with two neighbors — a 62-year-old woman and her 30-year-old son — were killed in a neighboring house.
The mother, wounded in the face, managed to reach Ukrainian-controlled territory. Her testimony serves as evidence of the Russian army's war crime.
Prosecutors launched a pretrial investigation under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code — violation of the laws and customs of war leading to death.
