Ukraine's Defense Forces launched new strikes on Russian military-industrial targets overnight into Thursday, hitting an oil refinery and an ammunition depot, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Explosions first rocked the area around the Ryazan Oil Refinery, followed by a large-scale fire at the facility.

The plant, one of Russia's largest in the central region and owned by Rosneft, has an annual capacity to process more than 17 million tons of crude and plays a key role in fueling Russian military units and logistics chains.

Disabling part of the refinery's production capacity significantly hampers the Russian army's ability to conduct operations, the General Staff said. Russian outlet Astra reported that the Ryazan facility has been targeted at least five times this year.

The same night, Ukrainian strike drones hit an ammunition depot near the town of Valuyki in Russia's Belgorod Oblast. The General Staff said the target was destroyed, with detonations and explosions observed.
