Two oil refineries, petrochemical plant across Russia hit by drones overnight

Drones struck multiple Russian regions overnight into Wednesday, targeting two oil refineries and a petrochemical plant. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed it downed 100 Ukrainian-launched UAVs.

In particular, drones attacked Stavropol Krai. As the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reported, the petrochemical plant Stavrolen in Budyonnovsk came under fire.

The plant produces polyethylene and polypropylene. Its products are used to make pipes, films, cable insulation and paints.

Local Governor Vladimir Vladimirov also reported the attack on Budyonnovsk, but according to him, the drones were allegedly neutralized by electronic warfare and air defense means.

Also that night, explosions were heard in the Republic of Mari El. A refinery in Yoshkar-Ola appears to have caught fire after the drone attack. Local Governor Yuri Zaytsev reported that drones fell near one of the industrial enterprises.

In addition, drones likely hit an oil refinery in Ulyanovsk Oblast.

According to local governor Aleksey Russkih, fires broke out in the Novospassky district at the site of the alleged fall of debris from downed drones.

Dozens of airports halted operations due to the drone attacks.
