Overnight drone strikes damage Russia's Volgograd oil refinery and Kostroma thermal power plant

Drones struck Russia's Volgograd and Kostroma oblasts overnight into Thursday, targeting a major oil refinery and the country's third-largest thermal power plant, local officials and media reported.
Volgograd Oblast Governor Andrey Bocharov reported a massive drone assault on the region.
According to him, damage was reported in several Volgograd districts, including a damaged high-rise apartment building, where one local resident was killed.
The official also said debris fallout sparked a fire in an industrial zone in the Krasnoarmeysky district. That's where the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery is located, Russian Telegram channel Astra noted.
Explosions were also heard in Volgorechensk in Kostroma Oblast. Drones hit energy infrastructure facilities, Governor Sergey Sitnikov reported.
Meanwhile, Astra analysis and eyewitness accounts indicate the attacks targeted the Kostroma GRES plant — Russia's third-largest thermal power plant by installed capacity.
