Ukraine hits the Russian oil platform in the Caspian Sea, a source says

Long-range drones operated by the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Centre hit a Russian oil platform on the Caspian Sea shelf, told hromadske the source familiar with the matter.

​​It’s the third Ukrainian attack on Russia’s oil platforms in recent weeks. This time, the Ukrainian drones attacked a drilling rig at the Rakushechnoe oil field (also known as the Valery Grayfer field). It is reported that the drone's onboard camera recorded a successful strike on the platform's gas turbine unit.

​On 11 December, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) launched a drone attack at the Filanovsky oil platform in the Caspian Sea. The next day, it was reported that the Filanovsky platform had been hit again and that the Korchagin platform had also been attacked. Both facilities belong to Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft.

​On 15 December, long-range drones hit the platform at the Korchagin oil and gas condensate field again, damaging critical equipment and halting production processes.

​The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian ships had been hit near the coast of Russia's Republic of Kalmykia in the Caspian Sea. The ships Kompozitor Rakhmaninov and Askar-Sarydzha, which Russia uses for military purposes, were attacked. Detailed information about the route and cargo of the damaged ships was provided by representatives of the Russian resistance movement Chernaya Iskra.
