Ukrainian nuclear power plants have reduced output due to the Russian attack — Ministry of Energy

As a result of the massive Russian attack on the Ukrainian energy sector, nuclear power plants have been forced to reduce their electricity production, says Ukraine’s acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov.
He added that the increase in nuclear power plant output will be conducted gradually, as soon as the energy sector restores the networks damaged by the attack.
“Russian strikes on energy infrastructure are grave violations of international nuclear safety requirements. And it should not be ignored by the international community. Russia's policy of energy terrorism must be stopped,” said Nekrasov.
The massive Russian attack on Ukraine's power grid, which started on the night of 23 December, is the ninth since the beginning of the year.
The attack left nearly all consumers in the Rivne, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi regions without power. Power outages are also reported in the Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.
The Odesa region is still recovering from the consequences of several consecutive massive strikes on its energy infrastructure, and a significant number of consumers remain without power.
Emergency power cuts have been introduced across Ukraine. They will be cancelled as soon as the situation in the energy system stabilises.
