Russian forces launched 420 drones and 39 missiles of various types — including 11 ballistic missiles — against Ukraine overnight into Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported.

Air defenses downed or suppressed most of the threats but hits in eight regions were recorded that damaged homes, energy infrastructure and left dozens wounded, including children.

Ukraine’s Air Force later detailed the assault:

  • two Zircon anti-ship missiles from occupied Crimea;
  • 11 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk and Rostov oblasts of Russia;
  • 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles from Vologda Oblast;
  • two Kh-69 guided air-launched missiles;
  • 420 strike drones (mostly Shaheds, plus Gerbera, Italmas and others) launched from Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiyske in occupied Crimea.

As of 10 a.m., air defenses neutralized two Zircons, four ballistic missiles, all 24 Kh-101s, both Kh-69s and 374 drones; information on several missiles remains under clarification.

Five ballistic missiles and 46 drones struck 32 locations, while debris from intercepted weapons fell at 15 additional sites.

Zelenskyy said destruction was recorded in eight oblasts, with widespread damage to private homes and apartment buildings.

Strikes targeted gas infrastructure in Poltava Oblast and electrical substations in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.

Rescue teams operated in the Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv oblasts and the city of Kyiv.

“Most missiles launched today were successfully intercepted thanks to our partners swiftly sending part of the air defense missiles agreed upon at the recent Ramstein meeting. Unfortunately, there were also hits. And this means we must continue working even more actively. The cold has not yet fully receded, and air defense missiles are needed every single day while Russia continues its attempts to destroy our energy system. I thank everyone who understands this and helps us,” said Zelenskyy.
