Children wounded, man killed in overnight Russian drone attacks
Russian troops launched attack drones at regions throughout Ukraine overnight into March 2. One man was killed in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Among the injured were children, according to local officials.
The Air Force Command said Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 94 Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas strike UAVs overnight.
As of 8 a.m., 84 drones were shot down or suppressed in the north, south and east of the country. However, 10 strike drones hit four locations, and debris from downed drones fell at two locations.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Two children were wounded in an attack on Zaporizhzhia district — Russian forces struck Komyshuvakha with guided aerial bombs.
The attack destroyed a house, and blast waves and debris damaged neighboring buildings. Two girls, ages 9 and 15, were injured.
Overall during the past day, four people were injured. The aggressor carried out 808 strikes on 39 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Air defenders from the East Air Command destroyed six Russian drones over Dnipropetrovsk Oblast overnight.
Russian forces struck Kryvyi Rih. An industrial enterprise was damaged in the city, and several fires broke out. No casualties were reported initially.
The enemy also attacked the Pokrovske territorial community. Two private homes were destroyed and four more damaged. A 55-year-old man was killed; rescuers recovered his body from the rubble of one of the damaged homes.
Sumy Oblast
Late on March 1, a Russian Molniya drone struck a residential building in Sumy’s Kovpakivskyi district. One building was damaged, about a dozen windows were blown out in neighboring homes, and no one was injured.
However, a 42-year-old man died in hospital after being seriously wounded in a Russian drone strike on a Ukrposhta vehicle in Mykolaivka rural community.
Four people were also injured in the Sumy and Velyka Pysarivka communities.
Mykolaiv Oblast
On the evening of March 1, Russian forces attacked the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities in the Mykolaiv district four times with FPV drones.
On Sunday evening, Russia also struck open terrain in the Voznesensk district with a ballistic missile, preliminarily an Iskander-M type. No casualties were reported.
Kherson Oblast
Over the day, four people were killed and five wounded due to Russian aggression. Russian forces targeted social infrastructure and residential areas in settlements across the region, damaging five apartment buildings and six private houses.
