Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) claimed responsibility for a drone strike that hit the Tikhoretsk oil pumping station infrastructure in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, sparking a large fire, an informed source in the SBU told hromadske.

Drones operated by the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center struck the facility in Tikhoretsk, causing multiple ignition points — likely fuel storage tanks — and a major blaze, the source said.

Russian authorities confirmed the attack and reported deploying 26 pieces of equipment to fight the fire.

The source described the strike on the Tikhoretsk oil hub — the sole supply branch for petroleum products to Novorossiysk — as a significant blow to Russian oil logistics.

"Such systematic special operations by the SBU create supply disruptions, complicate the transportation of oil products to ports, and force the enemy to change logistical routes. Taken together, this weakens both Russia's military capabilities and its economic ability to wage war," an informed source in the SBU said.

The Tikhoretsk oil node is one of southern Russia's largest transshipment points, featuring a major oil base and terminal critical to Russian fuel and petroleum product logistics, which are managed by Tikhoretsk-Neft LLC within Transneft's structure.
