Ukrainian forces clear Russian troops from Minkivka in Donetsk Oblast

Ukrainian troops from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelia” have fully cleared the village of Minkivka in Donetsk Oblast of Russian forces and now control the settlement, the regiment announced.
The rapid and coordinated operation by the regiment’s assault units eliminated the threat of further Russian advances along the Bakhmut-Slovyansk highway, from where the enemy could have pushed toward the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, the unit said.
During the fighting, Ukrainian forces unblocked positions of an adjacent unit, established new observation posts and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, destroying more than 40 Russian soldiers.
The operation stabilized the situation in this sector of the front.
What is the situation on the front now?
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Russian forces have been attempting breakthroughs on several strategic axes at once, leading to fierce battles along the entire line of contact. Between March 17 and 20 alone, Russia conducted 619 assault actions.
On March 17, Ukrainian forces neutralized 1,710 Russian troops — the highest daily loss for the aggressor in 2026, according to the Ministry of Defense.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted increased Russian attempts to advance from the border in Kharkiv Oblast and border communities of Sumy Oblast, adding that Ukrainian defenders are destroying those assault groups.
