Ukrainian command probing 425th Skelia Regiment over alleged losses near Pokrovsk

Higher Ukrainian military command is now reviewing the actions of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelia,” which faces allegations of sending a column of troops into an assault that resulted in heavy losses, the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

“The mentioned actions are being studied and investigated by higher military command. An official inspection is underway,” the corps said. “We ask everyone to refrain from spreading unprofessional assessments. They may negatively affect the further course of combat operations in the Pokrovsk agglomeration.”

A Russian unit called “Rubicon” earlier published video showing the destruction of Ukrainian equipment near the settlement of Hryshyne. It claimed that Ukrainian forces suffered losses in personnel and equipment during a failed breakthrough attempt.

Defense Ministry adviser Serhii Sternenko posted the footage and wrote: “We often laugh at the enemy when he sends his troops into assaults in columns. In conditions of total drone dominance, columns become easy targets and the enemy suffers heavy losses. But what about Ukrainian commanders who do the same?”

The Skelia regiment confirmed that on March 31 its unit conducted assault operations to enter and secure a position in one sector of the city of Pokrovsk. It acknowledged that Russian drones struck four Ukrainian armored vehicles near the objective.

However, the regiment described the Russian video as “edited” from different days and different sections of the front line, saying it “does not directly relate” to the March 31 operation.

The regiment also stated that losses in the March 31 battle amounted to two soldiers killed near the armored vehicles. All vehicle crews were successfully evacuated by a fifth combat vehicle in the column, which reportedly returned intact.
