Ukraine's General Staff overhauls 14th Brigade leadership amid supply crisis near Kupyansk

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the replacement of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade’s commander following public complaints from soldiers regarding systematic shortages of food and water. An internal investigation into the brigade's officials is also underway.
The shakeup follows a social media outcry involving soldiers stationed on the Kharkiv axis. According to the General Staff, Russian forces have carried out systematic air and missile strikes on crossings over the Oskil River, severely complicating logistics near the city of Kupyansk.
Current supply efforts are being maintained via watercraft and heavy-duty drones. Command is also working to bolster air defense, anti-drone protection, and electronic warfare systems in the sector.
"In these difficult conditions, special attention is paid to providing for our soldiers performing tasks on the front line," the General Staff said in a statement. "At the same time, the previous command of the 14th Brigade concealed the real state of affairs, resulting in the loss of a certain number of positions and a series of supply miscalculations. Specifically, a problem with food supplies to one of the brigade's positions was identified."
A fresh shipment of food was recently delivered to the affected position. The soldiers will be evacuated as soon as conditions allow.
Accountability measures
To address the situation, several personnel changes have been implemented. The commander of the 14th Brigade was removed from his post, and the commander of the 10th Army Corps was dismissed and reassigned to a lower-ranking position.
Colonel Taras Maksimov has been appointed the new commander of the 14th Brigade, while Brigadier General Artem Bohomolov now leads the 10th Army Corps.
A comprehensive commission from the Ukrainian Land Forces is currently conducting an inquiry. An internal investigation into brigade officials is nearing completion, with "appropriate management decisions" promised. The findings will also be forwarded to law enforcement agencies.
The General Staff emphasized that the new leadership of both the brigade and the corps is taking all possible measures to normalize the situation.
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has ordered Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, head of the Joint Forces Grouping, to conduct a thorough audit of all front-line supply lines.
