Ukrainian Defense Forces have struck the sanctioned tanker MARQUISE, the General Staff reported.

The tanker MARQUISE, which flies the flag of Cameroon and transports Russian oil, was hit while drifting 210 kilometers southeast of the Russian city of Tuapse. The vessel had its AIS signal turned off and was likely waiting for a ship-to-ship transfer of petroleum products.

According to the General Staff, the strike targeted the stern section, in the area of the propeller-rudder group and engine room.

“The tanker MARQUISE is under sanctions from Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Canada. It has been used by the enemy for the illegal transportation of petroleum products,” the military stated.

The extent of damage to the vessel is still being assessed.

This development comes as air raid alerts were declared in several Russian regions on April 29 due to drone attacks, with facilities in the cities of Orsk and Perm coming under fire.
