The Ukrainian Armed Forces are to form new unmanned systems units, says Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.

“I held a meeting on the status and readiness of the Armed Forces’ reserves. Particular attention was paid to strengthening the defence of the state border in the north. To improve the effectiveness of border security, a decision has been taken to form new unmanned systems units,” the Commander-in-Chief said.

He assured that the new units would be provided with the necessary weapons, equipment and other resources to carry out their assigned tasks. At the same time, Ukraine will continue its efforts to build up the capabilities of the units already operating in this direction.

“I listened to reports on the restoration of combat readiness of military units following the completion of combat missions, as well as their provision with weapons and equipment. Providing units with everything they need remains one of our key priorities,” added Syrskyi.

The Commander-in-Chief also announced plans to expand the use of unmanned systems within territorial defence brigades. This should significantly enhance the units’ capabilities to conduct reconnaissance, attack the enemy, and defend their designated areas of responsibility, explained Syrskyi.
