Russia launched 135 drones at Ukraine overnight into June 23, and Ukrainian air defenses neutralized most of them, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

As of 8 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 118 Russian drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas types, as well as other drone models, over northern, southern and eastern parts of the country.

Hits by 13 strike drones were recorded at 11 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at three sites.

Overnight attack

On Tuesday evening, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on the outskirts of the Sumy territorial community, the regional military administration said. The attack destroyed a trolleybus. Regional administration head Oleg Hryhorov said a 57-year-old driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was in serious condition. Two women suffered minor injuries.

Overall, three people were killed in Sumy Oblast over the course of the day, including a child. Another 13 people were injured, Ukraine’s National Police said.

Explosions were also heard overnight in Zaporizhzhia. Regional governor Ivan Fedorov said an attack on the Zaporizhzhia district damaged private homes and nearby outbuildings. Two people sought medical assistance.

Closer to morning, Fedorov said another Russian strike caused cars to catch fire in a private parking area. In all, seven residents of the region were injured over the course of the day.

Explosions were also heard in Kharkiv overnight. Earlier in the evening, a Russian drone struck the city’s Saltivskyi district, injuring a woman in the legs. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov also reported that a Molniya drone hit the city’s Kyivskyi district during the night.
