Drones attacked Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, sparking a fire at a local oil refinery owned by Lukoil, Governor Gleb Nikitin reported.

Falling debris caused "non-critical damage" to one industrial facility and several residential buildings.

One civilian was killed and four others wounded, he added. Russian air defenses allegedly downed 30 drones over the region.

He did not specify which industrial site was hit, but videos circulating online showed a blaze at the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery, Russia's fourth-largest.

The Russian Telegram channel Astra conducted an OSINT analysis confirming the refinery was struck. The plant is important for supplying Moscow Oblast.

The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the strike on the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery. Preliminary reports indicate the primary crude oil processing unit AVT-6 was hit. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

The facility has been attacked by Ukrainian drones multiple times before. After one strike in May, it partially halted operations.
