Russian strikes keep hitting Ukraine’s civilian logistics hubs. EVA warehouse is the latest

A Russian drone strike hit a distribution center serving EVA, one of Ukraine’s largest beauty and household goods retailers, near Kyiv on August 18, the latest in a series of attacks that have damaged or destroyed warehouses and logistics facilities used by Ukrainian retailers and other civilian businesses.
EVA is a major Ukrainian retailer selling cosmetics, personal-care products, household goods and other everyday consumer products.
The company said its distribution center in Brovary, which supplies both its physical stores and online shop, was hit during the morning attack.
No employees were injured, according to the company. Emergency crews were still fighting the resulting fire, making it impossible to immediately assess the full extent of the damage.
EVA said both its e-commerce warehouse and the facility supplying its stores may have been affected. Some products could therefore become temporarily unavailable at certain locations, while online orders may face delays.
A series of strikes on civilian businesses
The EVA facility is the latest Ukrainian commercial logistics site to be hit in recent Russian attacks.
Warehouses and distribution facilities operated or used by major Ukrainian businesses including online retailer Rozetka, delivery company Nova Poshta, home-improvement retailer Epicentr, and supermarket chains Silpo and NOVUS have been damaged or destroyed.
Facilities associated with Puma, Intertop and Toyota have also been hit.
A Russian strike also destroyed a reserve warehouse belonging to Ukrainian publisher BookChef, resulting in the loss of more than 100,000 books.
The attacks have disrupted the infrastructure that moves ordinary consumer goods around the country, with shoppers reporting empty shelves for some products in Ukrainian stores.
Ukrainian authorities have said they are working to reduce the vulnerability of the country’s logistics network. The government plans to give businesses access to available premises to help disperse warehouse operations and is preparing measures involving customs procedures, decentralized logistics and war-risk insurance.
Despite the destruction of individual distribution centers, Ukraine has not recorded nationwide food shortages, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
Officials estimate that up to 40% of lost logistics capacity can be replaced or restored relatively quickly.
