The death toll from a Russian drone attack on a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih has risen to 15, while 130 people were injured, including 23 children, city defense council head Oleksandr Vilkul said late on Aug. 21.

Twenty-nine of the injured, including five children, were in serious condition. Sixty-three people, including 14 children, remained hospitalized.

Nine people, including two children, were still considered missing as of early Aug. 22, Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Serhii Hanzha said. Rescuers continued searching through the rubble of the damaged shopping mall.

The fire at the mall was extinguished at around 11 p.m. on Aug. 21. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, rescue teams from the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Donetsk regions were deployed to assist with the operation.

Russian drones struck the shopping mall in two waves on the evening of Aug. 21, with the second attack coming about half an hour after the first strike, according to Vilkul.
