Russia launches massive attack across Ukraine, killing 2 in Kyiv (UPDATED)

Ukraine's Air Force said Russia attacked with ballistic and Onyx anti-ship missiles, 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 166 Shahed-type attack drones and decoys. Most of the attack drones were jet-powered.

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 31 of the 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles, two ballistic missiles, and 142 drones, according to the Air Force. Missile and drone strikes were recorded at 29 locations.

Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast

In Kyiv, damage and fires were reported in at least five districts, according to the State Emergency Service.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a strike damaged the 23rd floor of a 26-story non-residential building. Fires also broke out at warehouses and on the grounds of a private school, while debris hit a residential building and trapped people inside apartments.

In the Solomianskyi district, residents were trapped inside a five-story apartment building. Emergency workers rescued 10 people, while one person was hospitalized before rescuers arrived.

Fires and damage were also reported in the Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts, including at warehouses, garages, and vehicles.

Kyiv Oblast was targeted with jet-powered drones, ballistic missiles, and other missiles, regional authorities said. Homes, businesses, warehouses, and vehicles were damaged.

One person suffered shrapnel wounds in Bila Tserkva, while private homes and warehouses were damaged in the Brovary, Boryspil, Obukhiv, and Fastiv districts.

Odesa and Sumy oblasts

In Odesa Oblast, a Russian strike hit a major market outside Odesa, damaging shopping pavilions, regional governor Oleh Kiper said. A 58-year-old security guard was injured and hospitalized in moderate condition.

Local media identified the site as the Seventh Kilometer market.

In Sumy Oblast, two Russian Shahed drones struck a Kyiv-Sumy passenger train. All 90 passengers were evacuated and taken away by buses.
