Russian attacks hit 3 Ukrainian passenger trains in one day, killing railway worker
Russian forces attacked three passenger trains in Ukraine on Sept. 8, killing a railway worker in one of the strikes, Ukrainian Railways and regional authorities said.
A conductor was killed in an attack on a regional passenger train traveling from Dnipro to Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian Railways said.
The train had been stopped in advance after officials monitoring aerial threats detected danger, and passengers were moved to a mobile shelter. None of the passengers were injured.
According to Ukrainian Railways, the conductor returned to the train after the evacuation order and warning of heightened danger had been issued and was killed in the subsequent strike.
Two other passenger trains were attacked in Sumy Oblast on the same day, regional authorities said.
Two Russian Shahed drones struck a Kyiv-Sumy passenger train, causing a fire. All 90 passengers were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
