Russia launches 295 drones at Ukraine; 14-year-old killed in Kyiv
Russia launched 295 drones at Ukraine overnight and on the morning of Sept. 25, including 52 jet-powered drones, the Air Force said. A 14-year-old boy was killed and at least seven people were injured when a drone hit an apartment building in Kyiv, while two hospitals were damaged in Zaporizhzhia.
Ukraine’s air defenses shot down or suppressed 267 of the drones, according to the Air Force’s preliminary tally as of 7:30 a.m. It recorded strikes at 16 locations and debris from intercepted drones falling at four more.
At around 8 a.m., a Russian drone struck a 16-story apartment building in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district at the level of the 10th and 11th floors, according to Ukraine’s National Police. A 14-year-old boy was killed and at least seven residents were injured.
Damage was also reported elsewhere in the capital. In the Solomianskyi district, a non-residential building was damaged, while a fire broke out at another location. A six-story non-residential building caught fire in the Podilskyi district.
In Zaporizhzhia, two hospitals were damaged in the attack. Rescuers evacuated five people from one of the facilities, with one man preliminarily reported to have suffered minor injuries. At another hospital, rooms, an ambulance and civilian vehicles were damaged.
Russian strikes also caused damage in Kyiv Oblast. A woodworking facility caught fire in the Boryspil district, a warehouse was damaged in the Brovary district, and three private homes and four vehicles were damaged in the Obukhiv district.
The Air Force said the attack was still ongoing at the time of its morning update, with several Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
