Russia launches 108 drones at Ukraine overnight, killing one in Kyiv

Russia launched 108 drones at Ukraine overnight, including 47 jet-powered UAVs, killing one person and injuring two others in Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities said.

Ukraine’s Air Force said air defenses shot down or suppressed 88 Shahed, Gerbera and other drones as of 8 a.m. Russian drones struck 11 locations, while debris from intercepted UAVs fell at five others.

In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, a Russian strike hit a 25-story residential building, killing one person and injuring two others.

Residents told hromadske that the victim was a woman born in 2000 who had been renting an apartment in the building.

Russian forces also struck Kyiv’s Southern Bridge for the third time since Oct. 1. The bridge, along with the Paton and Metro bridges, was subsequently closed to public transport, forcing several routes to be diverted.

City authorities said an earlier assessment after the first strike on the Southern Bridge found no critical damage. A subsequent attack damaged the road surface, a bridge support, a barrier and metro infrastructure.
