Death toll from Oct. 7 Russian missile strike on Pryluky rises to 22, including five children

Rescue workers spent the night searching the rubble of an apartment building in Pryluky, northern Ukraine, as the confirmed death toll from Russia's Oct. 7 missile strike reached 22, including five children, the State Emergency Service reported on Oct. 8.

Another 54 people were injured, including seven children, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.

Rescue workers spent the night clearing debris from the site of the Oct. 7 attack and dismantling damaged structures. They rescued 15 people, including one child.

Russian cruise missiles struck the city in Chernihiv Oblast on the morning of Oct. 7, destroying two sections of an apartment building. Other residential buildings, a children's arts and activity center, a business and vehicles were also damaged.

Among those killed were three generations of one family: a 58-year-old woman, her 37-year-old daughter and her one-year-old grandson. Another grandchild survived.

Search and rescue operations remain underway.
