Trump claims both Ukraine and Russia violated energy ceasefire, says he will investigate

US President Donald Trump said both Ukraine and Russia had violated an energy ceasefire he announced on October 11, although the terms of the purported agreement remain unclear and Kyiv says Moscow continued striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Asked by reporters whether Russia had violated the ceasefire, Trump said he would need to check.
"I have to look into that because there were violations on both sides," he said.
Trump also rejected a reporter's suggestion that Russia, unlike Ukraine, had not agreed to the ceasefire.
"They agreed. You know why? Because I told them to agree," he said.
The US president again claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin was more interested in reaching a deal than Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
On October 11, Trump announced what he described as an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, claiming both countries had agreed to halt attacks.
Zelenskyy said the announcement came as news to him but reiterated that Ukraine was prepared to stop striking Russian energy facilities if Moscow reciprocated.
He subsequently said Russia had attacked a power plant in Kharkiv shortly after Trump's announcement, while Ukraine had not struck Russian energy facilities since the proposed ceasefire.
Axios reported that the proposed arrangement covered reciprocal attacks on oil refineries. Zelenskyy, however, stressed that Ukraine's primary concern was Russian strikes on its electricity infrastructure, rather than oil facilities.
No mutually confirmed terms of the proposed ceasefire have been made public.
