Britain plans to deliver 15 additional Gravehawk air defense systems to Ukraine, with the first batch arriving in the near future, UK Minister for Veterans and People Al Carns said in a statement.

Ukraine already has two Gravehawk prototypes, which are designed to bolster the protection of critical infrastructure against long-range Russian strikes.

The UK's Ministry of Defense also confirmed the transfer of 13 Raven air defense systems, which Ukrainian units are now using. Raven provides close-range frontline protection against drones, aircraft, and helicopters.

What are Gravehawk and Raven?

Gravehawk is a surface-to-air missile system that adapts air-to-air missiles — including Ukrainian ones — for ground-based air defense, according to the UK Defence Journal. It primarily counters drones but can also target aircraft, helicopters, and potentially cruise missiles.

The system was first tested in Ukraine in September 2024. In 2025, Britain announced the transfer of an additional 15 units. The project is funded by Britain and Denmark.

Raven air defense systems were developed specifically for Ukraine and funded by the British government. Per the UK Defence Journal, they will adapt ASRAAM air-to-air missiles for ground launch.

In June 2025, the British government reported that five Raven systems were slated for immediate delivery to Ukraine, bringing the total to the planned 13.
