Powerful drone attack hits Russia's Taganrog and Krasnodar overnight
Dozens of drones attacked Russian regions overnight into Monday. Local authorities report casualties and destruction.
Rostov Oblast Governor Yuri Slusar said the region came under a massive air attack starting from Sunday evening. According to him, more than 60 drones were destroyed over Taganrog and in six other districts of the region. Media outlets called it one of the “most powerful” attacks on the region.
One person was killed, and eight were injured in Taganrog.
Falling drone debris caused fires in several residential buildings and cars and damaged School No. 26. In total, 12 apartment buildings, 27 houses, and 10 vehicles were reportedly destroyed or damaged. In the Neklinovsky district, falling debris damaged a gas pipeline, and the gas supply was shut off there.
The operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai reported damage to several apartments from a drone crash in the Prikubansky district of Krasnodar. Three people were injured: one adult and two children.
Meanwhile, local Telegram channels published a video that appears to show a drone hitting an apartment building in Krasnodar.
The Telegram channel Shot reported a series of explosions over Tolyatti in Samara Oblast that began around 5 a.m. Flashes were visible in the sky, and the local airport activated the “Carpet” no-fly protocol.
According to the Telegram channel Exilenova, the target may have been KuibyshevAzot, a Russian chemical industry enterprise that has been targeted by drones multiple times before.
In addition, local channels reported a drone attack on the occupied city of Alchevsk in Luhansk Oblast. The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant and a substation were reportedly hit.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed shooting down 102 Ukrainian drones overnight over occupied Crimea, Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Penza, Rostov, Samara, and Ulyanovsk oblasts, Krasnodar Krai, and over the Sea of Azov.
