Russian port of Ust-Luga and Voronezh chemical plant targeted by drones again

Drones attacked Russia’s Leningrad and Voronezh oblasts overnight into Tuesday, with local governors reporting the downing of dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles, Russian officials and media said.

Voronezh Oblast Gov. Alexander Gusev claimed that air defenses destroyed 16 drones over the region.

Falling debris and a resulting fire damaged the roof of a warehouse at an industrial facility, injuring one man who was hospitalized with burns. The fire was extinguished, but a technological structure at the enterprise was damaged and production halted.

Gusev did not name the site, but the Telegram channel Astra, citing eyewitness footage, identified it as the Minudobreniya chemical plant in Rossosh — one of the region’s largest producers of ammonium nitrate used in explosives. The facility had been targeted by drones before.

Leningrad Oblast Gov. Alexander Drozdenko claimed that 20 drones were shot down overnight but provided no further details on damage.

Telegram channels monitoring long-range Ukrainian strikes indicated the port of Ust-Luga was the target. Bloomberg had reported earlier that the port recently resumed crude oil shipments after several days of disruptions caused by previous Ukrainian drone attacks.
