Ukraine and Latvia have signed a bilateral agreement on drones (Drone Deal), announced President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The agreement was signed with Latvia’s Prime Minister, Andris Kulbergs.

“These are specific steps to strengthen our joint defence and co-production. And it is important that this also involves sharing Ukraine’s expertise and experience to bolster our partners. This is precisely the kind of systematic cooperation we are building with those who have consistently supported us throughout the years of the Russian war,” Zelensky said.

In addition, according to the president, the meeting discussed Ukraine’s air defense needs and sanctions against Russia, particularly the tightening of sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet.

“I am grateful that we have such wonderful relations between our peoples. And thank you for all the support Latvia has provided to Ukraine throughout this war,” Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on his official Telegram channel.

Earlier, Zelensky announced that over the past two months, Ukraine has signed defence agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, and new agreements are being prepared as part of the Drone Deals initiative. He also said that he wants to sign such an agreement with the United States.

“About 20 countries are already involved at various stages: four agreements have already been signed, and the first contracts are being prepared under these agreements; with other countries, preparatory procedures are underway for political agreements that will pave the way for business,” Zelensky said.
