Ramstein summit results: $4 billion in military aid for Ukraine
Partner countries pledged $4 billion in military assistance for Ukraine at the 35th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (Ramstein), says Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
He noted that the key priorities remain unchanged: the PURL initiative, strengthening air defence, long-range artillery, and Ukrainian drones.
Nearly $1 billion will be allocated to the PURL initiative, which provides Ukraine with critical missiles for Patriot systems. The largest contributions were announced by Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden. In addition, Germany pledged to allocate $200 million to the JUMPSTART mechanism for long-term purchases of missiles for Patriot systems.
The partners will also allocate nearly $540 million to the purchase of artillery ammunition of extended range. Norway, Denmark, Spain, Lithuania and Luxembourg are the largest contributors to this direction.
More than $1 billion will be invested in unmanned systems. The UK will finance the purchase of 150,000 Ukrainian drones, the Netherlands will help to strengthen Ukraine's drone capabilities, and Norway will support the purchase of naval drones.
The partners also continue to invest in strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, electronic warfare, infantry fighting vehicles, training centres, and other critical capabilities of the Defence Forces.
Earlier on Thursday, the Ministers of Defence of Ukraine and Germany, Mykhailo Fedorov and Boris Pistorius, signed an agreement on joint development of air defence against Russian ballistic missiles.
