Trump claims Iran’s Kharg Island ‘blown to pieces,’ posts AI-generated video

US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran's Kharg Island, a key hub for the country's oil exports, had been destroyed, posting an AI-generated video but providing no evidence of an actual strike.
"Kharg Island blown to pieces!!!" Trump wrote alongside the video on social media.
Neither the White House nor the Pentagon has publicly confirmed an attack on the island.
Kharg Island is a strategically important hub for Iran's energy sector and accounted for around 90% of the country's oil exports before the current Middle East war.
Earlier this year, the Trump administration considered a ground operation to seize the island, Axios reported in March.
Trump's post comes amid renewed military escalation between the United States and Iran. US forces struck two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Aug. 30, saying Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was preparing to use them to deploy naval mines.
Iran subsequently launched ballistic missiles and drones at two US air bases in Jordan. An American official told Fox News that nearly all of the missiles targeting US military facilities were intercepted.
