Arson attempt targets Lithuanian company storing Starlink equipment, PM says

An attempted arson attack against a Lithuanian company storing Starlink communications equipment was thwarted overnight on October 18, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said.

The company had previously been warned by Lithuanian security services about possible attacks and had strengthened its security measures, preventing the attempt from succeeding, Sinkevičius wrote on Facebook.

The prime minister did not identify who was behind the attempted attack.

He said Lithuanian security services were closely monitoring activities by hostile states and taking measures to protect people and property.

The incident came on the same night that an unidentified drone entered Lithuanian airspace and crashed in the country's northern Pasvalys district.

Sinkevičius called for a thorough investigation into the drone's origin, including the possibility of sabotage, and announced a meeting of the National Security Commission for October 19.
