On December 5, the Russian occupation forces conducted another massive attack on Ukraine, launching more than 70 missiles. Most of them were shot down. Amid this attack, the remains of one missile were found on the border of Moldova. We gathered the main news from today.

Missile attack on Ukraine

On December 5, Russian troops carried out three waves of attacks on Ukraine, launching more than 70 missiles. More than 60 of them were shot down. Still, the occupiers hit energy facilities in Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa oblasts.

It is currently known about four people killed as a result of these attacks, in particular two people died in Novosofiyivka in Zaporizhzhya Oblast. Three people were wounded there, including a child aged 1 year and 10 months. It was also reported about the wounded in Odesa Oblast.

Power outages

Due to the Russian strikes, as of 7 p.m. Ukrenergo introduced emergency power cuts in all regions of Ukraine. Repair crews have already started emergency repair works at power facilities in Odesa and other regions.

Dispatchers and engineers of Ukrenergo are working to supply power to the affected regions using backup schemes. Where possible, consumers are already being connected.

This is the eighth such mass attack on Ukraine. Ukraine's energy infrastructure was damaged by large-scale Russian missile attacks on October 10, 11, 17 and 31, as well as on November 11, 15 and 23.

A missile was found on the border of Moldova

On December 5, at about 3:15 p.m., amid massive Russian attack of Ukraine, a patrol of Moldovan border guards found a missile in an orchard near the town of Briceni, which is located by the border with Ukraine.

The area where the missile was found was surrounded by police and border patrols. After inspecting the missile and four other elements, explosive experts said that there were no explosive substances.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed hromadske that they are clarifying information about this missile.

"Unfortunately, the consequences of Russian aggression are not for the first time manifested on the territory of neighboring states. This all happens because missiles fly fast, far, and even a hit missile can then change its course and fall further than it flew," hromadske was told.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine urged partners to provide Kyiv with modern missile and air defense systems as soon as possible, which will prevent further missile attacks from Russia.

Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledges strikes on its airfields

The Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged drone strikes on military airfields "Dyagilevo" in Ryazan Oblast and "Engels" in Saratov Oblast of Russia. The responsibility was put on Ukraine: Russia stated that the target of these attacks were Russian long-range aircraft.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported damage to the hull of two aircraft, the death of three military technicians who were at the airfield, and the injury of four others.

Earlier, Russian media reported that two Tu-95 missile bombers were damaged at "Engels" and two servicemen were wounded. And at "Dyagilevo" — a gas tanker exploded, killing three people and injuring six others.

The command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in response published a photo from, as noted, the airfield "Dyagilevo" near Ryazan, which went viral on social media.
