Russia hits Ukraine with intercontinental missile, Putin declares that it was Oreshnik, corrupt official's bail reduced: November 21 highlights
Russian troops attacked Ukraine with an intercontinental ballistic missile. Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that it was a medium-range Oreshnik missile. Ex-head of the Khmelnytskyi medical commission Tetiana Krupa had her bail reduced by 200 million hryvnias. We collected the main news for November 21.
Intercontinental missile strike
Russian troops attacked the city of Dnipro with missiles of various types. In particular, an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast.
Enterprises and critical infrastructure became the target of the aggressor in Dnipro. As a result of the attack, three people were injured. Subsequently, Russian troops attacked Kryvyi Rih. 31 people were injured there.
Russia said that it allegedly targeted the Pivdenmash plant in Dnipro. The Ukrainian side did not confirm this, although the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration said that an industrial enterprise was damaged.
The Center for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that Ukraine became the first country in the world against which an intercontinental ballistic missile was used. This was confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Reuters, citing a US representative, said that Russian troops could have attacked Dnipro with a medium-range ballistic missile, not an intercontinental one.
Putin said that Ukraine was attacked with the Oreshnik missile
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that during the morning attack on Dnipro on November 21, the Russians used a medium-range Oreshnik missile. He added that there are currently no means of countering the Russian Oreshnik missiles.
Putin said that after the strikes of Ukraine by long-range missiles of Western production on Russian territory, the war "has acquired a global character". He added that Russia believes it has the right to use weapons against "military facilities of those countries that allow their weapons to be used against Russian facilities."
Drones attacked Astrakhan Oblast
Drones attacked Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast, from where the Russians launched an intercontinental missile at Ukraine. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, linked this attack to the attack of Russian troops on Dnipro.
Ukraine celebrated the Day of Dignity and Freedom
On November 21, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Dignity and Freedom in honor of two revolutions: The Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity in 2013. November 21-22 is considered their beginning.
