45,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed in war, with another 390,000 wounded — Zelenskyy

45,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died and 390,000 have been wounded since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.
Zelenskyy stated that while many wounded soldiers return to the front lines after recovery, the total number of injuries includes multiple cases involving the same individuals.
The president also provided figures on Russian losses, estimating that approximately 350,000 Russian soldiers have been killed and between 600,000 and 700,000 have been wounded. However, according to Ukraine’s General Staff, Russia's total losses in personnel, including both killed and wounded, have reached 842,000 since February 2022.
The last time Zelenskyy publicly disclosed casualty figures was in December 2024, when he reported 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed and 370,000 wounded.
Previously, Kyiv refrained from releasing detailed casualty numbers. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry had stated that information on troop losses would remain classified until martial law is lifted.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the war in Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, previously said that Ukraine's losses in the war against Russia are greater than the US losses during the wars in Vietnam and Korea combined, which exceeds 80,000.
