Drones attack several regions of Russia: authorities report damage

Overnight on January 13, the Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack on several regions of the country as industrial enterprises in Engels and Kazan were damaged, according to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Governor of Tula Oblast Dmitry Milyaev, and the Saratov Oblast governor Roman Busargin.
Busargin did not specify which facility in Engels was damaged, but added that emergency and operational services were working at the scene.
The head of the Engels district, Mikhail Isaev, announced that school classes will be held remotely due to the threat of drone attacks.
Russian Telegram channels write that drones also attacked Kazan. According to them, local residents are reporting a fire in the area of the Kazan Orgsintez plant. The regional governor, Rustam Minnikhanov, also confirmed the attack.
A massive drone attack was also reported in Tula Oblast of the Russian Federation. The governor of the region said that information about the consequences of the attack is still being clarified.
Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency has introduced temporary restrictions at airports in Nizhny Kamsk, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Kazan, and Saratov.
Previously, overnight on January 7, drones struck the Kristall Refinery oil storage facility in Engels, Saratov Oblast, Russia. It supplied fuel to the Engels-2 military airfield, where Russian strategic aviation is based.
The governor of Saratov Oblast, when reporting the attack, also called the oil depot an “industrial enterprise.”
The fire was extinguished five days after the drone attack.
