Kyiv massively attacked by drones and missiles: 23 people injured, damaged railway

Russian troops launched a massive drone and missile attack on Kyiv overnight, causing damage across multiple districts and injuring residents, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and Ukrzaliznytsia reported.

As of 8:09 a.m., Klitschko reported that the number of injured had risen to 23, with 14 hospitalized and the rest treated on-site or as outpatients.

In Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi District, drone debris fell in the courtyards of residential buildings and on the grounds of an educational institution.

In the Solomiyanskyi District, debris hit non-residential buildings and a garage cooperative, sparking a fire. Warehouses and an administrative building in the same district were also set ablaze.

In the Sviatoshynskyi District, drone debris caused fires in warehouses, houses, and vehicles in the courtyard of a 16-story residential building.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris damaged an unoccupied eight-story residential building, igniting a fire on the first floor and in detached houses.

In the Darnytskyi district, debris fell in several open areas without causing detonations or fires.

As of 8:57 a.m., the attack damaged five ambulances responding to emergency calls, though no medics were injured.

Russian forces also damaged railway infrastructure in Kyiv.

Passenger trains on western routes are being rerouted via Vyshneve and Darnytsia, causing delays of up to two hours. Kyiv City Express trains are operating only on the northern semicircle route (Sviatoshyn–Pochayna–Darnytsia in both directions), with potential schedule disruptions due to shared tracks with passenger trains, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.

The damaged railway section is under repair, and reserve locomotives will transport trains within Kyiv once the Sviatoshyn–Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi section resumes operation.

In Kyiv Oblast, missile strikes caused significant damage to residential and industrial areas in the Fastiv district, the State Emergency Service reported.

Rescuers extinguished a fire on the roof of a multi-story building and seven private garages, with no casualties reported.

Air raid alerts remained active in Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, and several other regions until 8:43 a.m.
