Ukrainian air defenses down 70 Russian drones in overnight attack
Russian forces launched 97 strike drones at Ukraine overnight into Thursday, with Ukrainian air defenses downing or suppressing 70 of them, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The attackers used Shahed drones, Gerbera models and other unmanned aerial vehicles, launched from:
- Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia;
- Chauda and Hvardiyske in occupied Crimea;
- occupied Donetsk.
Most of the drones — about 70 — were Shaheds.
Ukraine's defenses, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups and unmanned systems teams, repelled the assault.
Preliminary data as of 8 a.m. showed 70 drones downed or suppressed in eastern and southern regions.
Authorities recorded 27 drone impacts at 13 locations, plus debris from downed drones falling at one site.
