Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant loses external power again after overnight explosions
Explosions were reported across Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine overnight into Tuesday, while the Russian-installed head of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Evgeny Balitsky, said air defenses were active near occupied Melitopol and an energy infrastructure facility in southern Zaporizhzhia Oblast was damaged, according to local Telegram channels.
The Russian administration at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant announced that the facility had once again lost external power supply after the automatic protection system disconnected the 330 kV “Ferrosplavna-1” high-voltage line. The “Dniprovska” line has remained disconnected since March 24, 2026.
The plant is currently meeting its own needs using backup diesel generators. Radiation levels remain normal and do not exceed natural background values, the occupation administration claimed.
Explosions were also reported in occupied Crimea, particularly near the Tavriyska Thermal Power Plant in the Simferopol district and near the Hvardiyske airfield.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported shooting down 97 drones overnight over Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov, and Tula oblasts, occupied Crimea and the Sea of Azov.
The governor of Russia’s Lipetsk Oblast said one woman was killed and five people were injured as a result of a drone attack.
